How to Release Emotional Overwhelm & Energetic Blocks | Meditation Tips

 
 

When your body is carrying trapped emotions and energetic blocks you begin to feel more stress, anxiety, and pressure in your daily life. Your emotional body can trigger your mental state to become overwhelmingly negative as your thoughts represent the fear, worry and doubt from your emotional state. 

As a Spiritual Mentor and Intuitive Guide I work with empaths, people pleasers and sensitive souls who have become aware of the negative impact of their thoughts through consciousness. A lot of the clients I work with in my 1:1 mentoring program and my membership community desire to feel more peace, joy, bliss, and purpose in their everyday lives. This is why I teach and support my community in the process of releasing the energetic weight of the emotional overwhelm they experience. 

In this blog I will share a meditation technique that will support you in releasing the emotional overwhelm and energetic blocks that are causing more stress, anxiety and pressure in your life. Before I share the meditation technique I want to explain how your mental state becomes affected by the trapped emotions and energetic blocks in your body and how this connects with the energetic vibration you choose to embody. 

How Your Mental State is Affected

There are three things to remember when it comes to your mental state, or your mindset, in life. 

First, your Ego cannot distinguish between what is reality and what is not reality. This means that you can create a fictional story and your Ego will believe it to be the truth of your current experience. When you constantly fill your mind with worried thoughts of “what ifs” your Ego takes that information as factual and begins to believe that your reality is filled with these negative what ifs. 

You can also see the opposite of this, which is why meditation is extremely empowering for your mental state. The moment you start to create a positive fictional story and feed this to your mind, your mental state will become fixated on these positive what ifs believing this is your reality. 

The second thing to remember is that your thoughts are over 80% repetitive from one day to the next. So, whatever you choose to focus on consistently becomes the focus of your life, until you change that focus. 

This means that if you are focused on your financial situation, whether good or bad by your own perception, this is going to be the main focus your mind fixates on, until you choose to change the focus of your thoughts. Here is an example; let’s say you have a big bill to pay and you aren’t sure how you are going to pay it. Your thoughts become focused on trying to find a solution to your problem with this expensive bill. You may even be focused on wondering how this ever became a problem in the first place. You may become filled with anger that this has happened to you. These different thoughts focused on monetary lack, or a problem with your finances, will become your entire reality. You’ll find it difficult to be present and enjoy your life because in a moment of stillness your mind goes right back to this thought pattern. 

The last thing to remember is that your mind listens to the energetic vibrations that flow through your body and it unconsciously remembers moments from your past that feel similar. This means that anytime you feel tired, your body is sending energetic signals, or vibrations, to your mind and how to process this tired feeling. If in the past you were taught that there is no time to rest, then your mind will unconsciously trigger those old thought patterns associated with self-judgment and self-shame around needing rest. 

You might be feeling tired because you finished a long day of work. Let’s say from a young age you were taught that taking breaks is bad because your parents were always working hard trying to make enough money to put food on the table. Or you could have a completely different reason as to why you were taught that taking breaks is bad. Ultimately, in the moment of feeling tired, your unconscious belief systems around resting and taking breaks become triggered through the energetic vibration associated with the belief system. 

All of this is to say that your mental state is affected by the unconscious beliefs you carry, the energetic vibrations that flow through your body, and wherever you’ve been placing your focus recently. Obviously there is a lot more that can affect your mental state, but for the sake of simplicity and the topic of this blog, we will keep it with these three points.

The Energetic Vibration You Embody

How does the trapped emotions and energetic blocks in your body play into all of this? Well, the energetic vibration you embody on a daily basis is going to either support the stress and anxiety to grow or it’s going to create more relief and peace of mind for you. 

When you suppress your emotions the energy stays stagnant in your body and it affects the vibration you embody. This energetic vibration then triggers the unconscious belief systems and keeps you stuck in a pattern of stress and anxiety. 

When you cleanse your emotional reaction to something in a healthy and supportive way you are able to clear that energy from your body, bringing yourself back into a neutral state. From here you can consciously choose to embody an uplifting energy by focusing your thoughts in a supportive way.  

The energetic vibration you embody will help you to cultivate more peace in your daily life, or it will cause you to continue carrying more stress and anxiety in your life. By paying attention to the trapped emotions and energetic blocks you feel in your body you’ll be able to actively release and cleanse these lower energetic vibrations. This is the process of shifting your energetic vibration and embodying a state of being that is uplifting and peaceful.

How Meditation Shifts Your State of Being

The practice of meditation is about being able to tap into how you feel and paying attention to the energetic vibration that is currently flowing through your body. As an empath you have a gift, and nobody has taught you how to properly use this gift. Your gift is the ability to transmute energy. When you properly access this gift you can alchemize heavy energy into light energy. 

This means that you have the power to shift the harsh emotions, like anger, frustration, anxiety and bitterness, into an energy of peace, relief, and calmness. This is accomplished through the practice of meditation. 

I can talk about the benefits of meditation day in and day out, but I want to get into the actual meditation practice that will help you to release the emotional overwhelm and energetic blocks you are feeling. You can learn more about meditation in these blog posts. 

Meditation to Release Emotional Overwhelm & Energetic Blocks

This is a step by step practice that you can try out right now. You don’t need to memorize these steps for it to work, you only need to slow down and feel into your body through each step. 

  1. Close your eyes and take 4 deep breaths, counting to 4 on your inhale, and counting to 4 on your exhale. 

  2. Feel into your body and acknowledge where the heavy energy is sitting. It may be in your shoulders, your chest, your gut, or somewhere else. Take some time to breathe deeply and feel into your body. 

  3. Once you find where this heaviness is residing, ask this energy to tell you what thoughts are attached to this feeling. This step may be challenging because the thoughts are going to be filled with negativity. You have to become aware of these harsh thoughts in order to release them and shift your energy. Let all the thoughts be spoken. 

  4. Now take 4 more deep breaths, counting to 4 for both the inhale and exhale. The emotional reaction may come forward through these last 2 steps, if you feel the need to cry please do so. You have to let yourself feel the energy in order to release it. 

  5. Now that you’ve felt through the energy that has been sitting inside your body, take a moment to call in your Higher Self. This is the version of you who has lived through every timeline, the version of you who has all the wisdom you’ll ever need. Ask your Higher Self what they would say to you right now. The energetic response of your Higher Self will be filled with light, love, and support. Allow yourself to receive this. 

  6. Take 4 more deep breaths and notice how your energy has shifted with the release of the emotional overwhelm and the guidance and support from your Higher Self. 


This meditation practice is a supportive tool that will help you to embody a higher vibration in your daily life. The old ways of suppressing the emotions and living from stress are no longer serving you and the growth you desire.
