Healing Self-Judgment | Spirit versus Ego
Self-judgment and self-criticism are the two biggest factors that are keeping you stuck in a life filled with stress, pressure, emotional overwhelm, and worry for your future. The energetic vibration of self-judgment is damaging your connection to your Spirit because it comes from the voice of your Ego.
As a Spiritual Mentor and Intuitive Guide I work with spiritual empaths who desire to have a stronger connection with their true self, as Spirit. There are many different paths that guide my clients into working with me and it often starts with feeling like they aren’t living to their full potential or not knowing who they really are.
Whether or not you’ve experienced the lowest point in your life or not, you are here because you experience the soul-crushing voice of self-judgment and you wish to heal this Ego pattern and create more self-love in your life.
Healing the self-judgment of Ego is a journey many spiritual empaths choose to embark on because they know, as light-beings, that they are here on earth to bring more light and love into the world. The energy of self-judgment has been holding you back from acknowledging your worthiness and owning your spiritual power.
In this blog I will explain the difference between ego and spirit, along with tips to heal the self-judgment you experience in life.
What is the Difference Between Ego and Spirit?
Ego is considered the unconscious and Spirit is the conscious, but it goes so much deeper than this.
The Ego stores your pain-body, as Eckhart Tolle calls it, which is all of the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual pain you’ve experienced in your lifetime. Ego also stores your unconscious belief systems that you were conditioned to carry as a young child.
A lot of your habitual behaviours and thought patterns actually stem from your Ego. This means that often you are behaving from unconscious beliefs that you were conditioned to carry without you even realizing it. The unconscious thought patterns that flow through your mind are often tied to the pain you experienced in the past, or the generational pain you’ve taken on from your ancestors.
Meanwhile, your Spirit is the space of true consciousness, which allows you to understand life and yourself from an expansive perspective. Your Spirit is where your deepest passions are stored, where you consciously feel your intuition guiding you, and where you remember your true self.
As a Spirit you were created from the energy of light and love, just like everyone else on earth. Throughout your lifetime you’ve taken on different pains that unconsciously pull you away from trusting your Spirit. The biggest thing to acknowledge is that as humans we are raised by other humans who have their own pain-body and Ego. This means in the first 7 years of your life you are being conditioned by someone who may be living from an unconscious Ego state where their pains are guiding them in unhealthy and unsupportive ways.
There is no need to place blame on anyone, for that would be Ego speaking through you. Instead, the moment you become conscious or aware, is the moment where you get to reparent yourself and heal the pain-body within you.
By bringing consciousness into all of the patterns that are unconscious within you, you are beginning the process of living from Spirit and offering compassion to the Ego. The Ego has an important part in your journey, and that is to keep you safe when in a life or death situation. The Ego has its own instincts which are extremely helpful when your life is at risk. The problem is that when your pain body becomes triggered based on a heavy emotional reaction, your Ego unconsciously tries to “save” you by keeping you safe from whatever triggered you. Often you don’t actually need saving from that thing, you only need comforting in order to heal the emotional response. The solution in these moments is to gain conscious awareness that you are in an Ego pattern and to allow your Spirit to comfort and nurture you through the healing process.
Now, I am going deep into this and I’m not really explaining where self-judgment comes into play. So, let’s jump into how self-judgment is affected by your Ego.

Self-Judgment and Ego
Ego is the unconscious, judgmental voice within you that tries to convince you of what is right and what is wrong. The Ego places an importance on what is safe and what is unsafe, and it deems that anything that is unsafe will kill you. The self-judgment you experience is something you’ve been taught to embody and that’s because we live in an extremely judgmental world.
Society has placed an emphasis on what is right and what is wrong since the very beginning. When we are in an unconscious mental state, meaning we are not conscious of our thoughts and the patterns that are leading us through life, We see “right” as the safe option that will keep us alive, and “wrong” as the unsafe option that will kill us. Remember, this is what our mind and body are moving through in an unconscious way, meaning you are not aware of these patterns. Until, you become aware of these patterns, and that is when you begin to heal the self-judgment of ego.
Right now take a moment to determine what you are most self-judgmental about in your life. Is it the way your body looks? Is it your financial situation? Is it the job you have? Is it the way you raise your children? Is it the way you think your friends and family perceive you? Is it something else?
Self judgment holds you back in a lot of ways because you are insecure and believe your worthiness is tied to something you have to do or someone you need to become.
Let me share my own example so you can understand what I’m trying to explain.
I have always been self-judgmental around who I am because I’ve always believed that I am different and I’ve never quite fit in. I spent a lot of my life trying to be a different version of myself so I would fit in.
Growing up I heard the world around me judge everyone, for the way they look, the way they act, the choices they make and more. As a child, being an empath, I watched the kids in my classes begin to judge the other kids and all of a sudden my Ego believed I wasn’t safe. My Ego became triggered because it saw the judgment around me as a life or death situation.
My self-judgment is rooted in the belief that I am “wrong” or “unsafe” when I live as my true self because I am different from who society wants me to be. Remember, this is a perception from my Ego. Once I became consciously aware of this pattern of self-judgment and fearing how others perceived me I could see that I was living as a smaller version of myself because of the pain-body attached to my Ego.
Healing the Self-Judgment of Ego
The process of healing the self-judgment of Ego is about bringing conscious awareness into those patterns and reprogramming your belief system in a healthy and supportive way.
The ability to reprogram your belief system is actually a simple process, however it does require you to heal the emotional, mental and spiritual pain you may have experienced in your past.
Your Spirit is the kind, compassionate heart that you have that is accepting of everyone. Your Spirit is the space where you unconditionally love yourself, no matter what is happening in your life.
The self-judgment of your Ego comes from the belief that you aren’t safe in the choices you are making and the way you are living. In reality, you are indeed safe as we live in the 21st century and it’s actually not as easy to die as our Ego thinks it is.
From my example, I was afraid someone would judge me for being different, and my Ego unconsciously believes that I will die if I am judged. This is not true at all. I am perfectly safe in living as my true authentic self, I only needed to learn to reprogram my belief system and heal the emotional wounds tied to the old belief system.
Your journey of healing the self-judgment of ego can be seen in these four steps.
1 - Build awareness around your self-judgment.
You have to start acknowledging what your self-judging thoughts sound like and what they are focused on in order to create the healing you desire.
2 - Connect with your Inner Child.
Your inner child carries all the past pains and memories you’ve experienced. Your Inner Child will show you where the wound originates from so you can create the healing you desire.
3 - Begin to heal the wound.
By connecting with your Higher Self and your Divine Team of Angels, you will be able to feel supported and comforted in the process of healing the original wound. This is how you detach from the old unconscious pattern of self-judgment.
4 - Create a new belief that supports your growth.
Now that you’ve healed the old belief that said you weren’t safe, you can create a new belief that allows you to live from self-compassion. By affirming self-compassion through repetition it will become a new belief.
A belief is only a thought that has been repeated over and over again.
You may find yourself in one of these two different phases.
The first, you are new on your healing and growth journey trying everything for yourself to see what feels right for you.
The second, you have been on your healing and growth journey for a while now and you are tired of trying to figure out everything on your own. You are ready for one on one support and guidance to speed up your healing process, so you can embody your true authentic self with purpose and peace.
If the second resonates most with you, then the Spirit of the Empath 1:1 Mentoring program is exactly what you are looking for. Fill out an application today to see if you are the right fit to work with me!
