Feeling Stuck? Step out of the box with these strategies
Sometimes in life we find ourselves stuck - whether it’s in a relationship, a job, a place, a situation, an emotion, a mental state, or even physically. For some reason we don’t know how to break free because we have become comfortable in the way we have been living. I am here to remind you that there is greatness around the corner. You are not the only one to experience this feeling of being stuck and you will get through.
Here are my go-to tips and strategies to step out of the box and allow yourself to shift forward once again.
#1 Flow with the Moon Cycle
If you have never previously connected to the moon cycle or didn’t even know that you could then this will be a huge tool to help you step out of the box.
If you have previously connected to the moon then this is a reminder to build that connection again and use each phase to help you find a flow to life.
In life we experience phases, good or bad, we always find the strength to move to the next phase. The moon teaches us to honour each phase because there is a purpose and meaning behind every phase of life.
When you open yourself to learn about the moon and you start to flow with the phases you find a sense of peace and calm that will help you move forward and understand your emotions, feelings, thoughts and actions.
#2 New Way to Release
If you have previously practiced releasing before then this is a sign that it’s time to find a new way to release.
If you have never released before then it’s time to start.
Releasing is so important because it is a reminder that not all things in life are meant for us. We need to learn when something, someone or a situation is no longer serving us - meaning we are not receiving any good.
Once we are open to accepting that a release needs to occur we can then find the best practice to do so which will help us shift forward in life.
#3 Nature Connection
A great strategy to step out of the box is to connect to nature. There is so much growth that occurs in nature every second of the day and it is a beautiful reminder that growth takes time, but we need to provide ourselves with all the right tools in order to grow. For example, trees need water, sunlight, carbon dioxide and rest in order to grow.
Spending time in nature allows you to connect back to the energy of growth, while also connecting to the bigger picture. Birds can’t live without the shelter of the trees, and the squirrels help to spread the seeds of different species of trees, and the bees need the flowers while the flowers rely on the bees and there are so many more connections that are vital to the success of nature.
These reminders are exactly what we need to see that life is bigger than this moment and with the help of our surroundings we too can grow and change.
#4 Try something new (journalling, meditation, yoga, reading a self help book)
One of the best strategies that will help us step out of the box and become unstuck is trying something new. This is in regards to your mental and spiritual health in order to allow yourself to growth through life.
When we open ourselves up to a new practice, like journalling, meditating, yoga, or broadening our mind with a self-help book, we begin to learn about ourselves from a new perspective and we can connect to what is truly important to us.
If you are not willing to try something new then how will you ever step out of the box and become unstuck?
#5 Find Your Community
In the moments you are feeling stuck is a perfect time to find a community that can help you through. These are the times in life that we need the most support, encouragement to step out of the box, and the love to know that we are not alone.
Building a community with like-minded souls allows you to truly feel like you have a place in the world and you are not alone. These are the people that are going to support and be there for you through the challenges and cheer you on through your accomplishments.
This community might be a group on Facebook, friends that you can truly open up to and not feel judged by, family members that understand where you are coming from and know that you can shift forward, a religious group that connects and shares similar passions for the greater good, or even a group that shares a similar interest like a book club, a knitting group, or a sports team.
As long as this community is helping you move forward and is not focusing on the past, you feel you can truly be yourself, and you feel supported and loved then they will help you with that shift forward in life.
#6 Reflect & Learn
A great practice to help you become unstuck is to reflect and learn from your past. By reflecting on the situation you are trying to move away from you are allowing yourself to learn from the situation and grow.
This will help you most of all because once you are in the process of moving forward you can easily look back with resentment, anger or even guilt. Through reflecting and learning you are opening yourself up to growing from your past.
Once you know you have fully moved on you can look back and honour your past because it helped you learn and get to where you are today. This takes time and work, but it’s important in your journey of healing.
#7 Goal Setting/ Dreams & Intentions
A great strategy to step out of the box and start moving forward is connecting to your goals, dreams and intentions for you life. This does not mean to start acting on all of them at once, this is just to reconnect to your deepest desires for your life.
When you allow yourself to write down all of your goals and dreams you are reconnecting to your purpose and what drives you to move forward. Keep a positive mindset around these dreams by picturing yourself achieving them and feeling how you would feel when they come true.
Having goals and dreams allows you to remember where you want to go in life and when you start making action steps on how to get there you are creating that forward movement.
#8 Rearrange your space
Sometimes in order to feel refreshed and a new sense of energy we need to rearrange our living space. By decluttering and shifting things around we are helping to release old energies, old stagnant ways.
Creating a new space helps new ideas to flow and gives you a fresh start. This is a great strategy when you feel stuck and need to reset in life.
#9 Big Changes
Sometimes when we get in that ‘stuck’ mindset we start to fear change. Our minds work against us and we start to believe that change will bring more difficulties and challenges into our life.
This is NOT true at all. Change can be great - especially when we are feeling stuck in life. It’s time to allow big changes to happen in order to help you move forward.
Maybe this means moving to a new house, or even a new town. It could mean you are going to change your work environment by getting a new job, or just working at home part time. A big change could be centred around your daily routine, maybe you need to switch something up.
Whatever it is, see change as bringing new experiences into your life to learn & grow from. Change does not need to be scary or bad - it can be exciting and rewarding!
#10 Time for Energy Healing
When we are experiencing that feeling of being stuck there can be a huge block energetically that surrounds us and this situation. All of the strategies and tools above will help with the process of stepping out of the box and shifting forward, but sometimes there is something even deeper within that is holding us back.
Whether you have already started the process of shifting forward or not, energetic healing can help you grow and move forward.
This could mean that your chakras are misaligned and you need to heal them.
Maybe you are holding onto resentment, anger or guilt and even though you are practicing to release them there may be something deeper that is holding you back from a full release.
You may have experienced trauma that has brought forward new fears or this trauma is holding on to a lot of negative energy.
Whatever it is, usually through that feeling of being stuck there is energy that is trying to hold us back. I have found the best way to shift forward is to work with a mentor, coach, or therapist to help heal the energy surrounding the situation. This can be done in many ways, for example a one-on-one session, a workshop or course, a group healing circle or even a virtual healing session.
Energy healing is a beautiful practice that can do so much good in helping us to get unstuck and to be able to shift forward once again.
These are all strategies and tools that I use to help me shift forward in life, especially in those moments that have led me to feeling stuck. I hope these tips and tricks provide some relief on your journey as you continue to put the work in to step out of the box that is holding you back.
