Your Soul is Asking You to Be Witness to Your Triggers | Feminine Healing

 
 

A growth mindset is about asking yourself how you can learn and grow through the situation that is unfolding. Your Ego tries to blame the outside world for why you feel a certain way, and in this reaction you are giving your spiritual power away. 

When I first embarked on my spiritual healing journey I worked hard to remove everything from my life that was a trigger. In order to live peacefully I needed to be alone, living as a hermit away from society. This is no way to live, and although it provides space to tap into your own energy, it doesn’t aid the expansion of your soul. 

Several years into my healing, I had already worked through and released a lot of the trauma from my mental and emotional breakdown, however I realized I needed to shift the way I was perceiving my triggers.

How do you release your triggers for good?

What is the voice of your soul really saying?

The main soul purpose we are all here to live through is to bring the unconscious parts of yourself into full consciousness. This means you are here to do the internal work, learning about your patterns, belief systems, conditioning and programming, and everything that is blocking you from living as a fully conscious being. 

Why do you react in the way you do?

Why are your habitual behaviours what they are?

Why are you letting your fears control the way you live?

These are the questions that have guided me through my healing work and they are the same questions I support all of my clients and community members through. 

An External View of Your Triggers

At first I looked at my triggers from the perspective of what in my external world was causing me to feel triggered. If a friend said something that triggered me I saw it as a sign to not discuss that topic with that friend. 

When I spent time with family and I watched different discussions unfold I noticed how I felt triggered through certain words spoken around me. I began to remove myself from those conversations, and I even looked at how I could protect my energy, as an empath, before spending time with family. 

When you begin to become conscious of your triggers you often go through a phase where you see the external world as what caused you to feel triggered. In healing and as a form of protection, you begin to try and remove those external situations that cause the trigger. 

I learned this is a very Egoic way of viewing my triggers. I was giving my spiritual power away because I allowed those situations to be triggers for my internal wounds. By avoiding and removing the triggering situations from my life I was trying to control the situation to no longer feel triggered. This is not healing, it is avoiding.

Be Witness to Your Triggers

Looking inwards when you feel triggered is a way of viewing yourself from a higher perspective and this is where true healing comes into your life. 

At some point in my healing journey I realized I needed to stop looking outside of me when I felt triggered and I needed to start going inwards. I was the one witnessing what took place within me when I felt triggered. I put myself back into my spiritual power of consciousness. 

During a conversation with a friend when a topic would come up that was triggering, I looked at where I felt the heavy energy inside my body. I would later grab my journal and ask my Spirit, “what is this trigger showing me? Where am I holding onto the pain?” 

You cannot control every aspect of life and you cannot continue to remove everything that is triggering. You will be left with nothing in your life, trust me that’s the direction I was heading in. 

Your triggers are a message from your Spirit, showing you where you’re holding onto an internal wound that is asking to be healed. Your triggers are a sign for what patterns you carry that no longer support you. Your triggers are the teachers guiding you to see where you have outdated conditioned beliefs that are holding you back. 

Listen to Your Soul

Your soul is the conscious, fully aware version of you who sees everything from a higher perspective. You are ever changing, constantly growing, and expanding through every situation you experience. Your soul is the voice that is encouraging you to slow down and be witness to this moment. 

Your soul is saying, “don’t act that way because you’ve always acted that way, make the choice to act that way because you know it’s the best way to act in this moment.” Stop living on autopilot and take a second to be witness to yourself. 

When I began to slow down and look at my triggers from the desire to better understand myself, I stepped into the most peaceful and loving version of myself. There is no more self-judgment for why I am behaving the way I am, instead it’s a full understanding of who I am because I’m choosing to see myself completely. 

I am not perfect. I am still learning from my triggers and healing the internal wounds I carry. The difference is I am no longer running away from what feels uncomfortable because I have created a safe and supportive space for my inner work. 

The soul care practices I have developed throughout my healing journey allow me to bring conscious awareness into all that I am, all that I do, and all that I live through. My soul was asking me to be witness to my triggers in order for me to embody the peace and calmness I desire in my life. 

I am not at peace because I am never triggered.

I am at peace because I know how to move through my triggers in an enlightening way. 


You are on your spiritual healing journey, desiring to feel connected to your soul so you can live with more purpose. You know you are a light-being and you want to bring your light into the world around you. You cannot follow this path, living from your light, if you continue to avoid the triggers you feel. 

Your soul is asking you to be witness to your triggers in order to fully release the power those triggers hold over you. 

How can you start?

Next time something triggers you, grab your journal and reflect on how you feel, what in your external world caused the trigger and then ask your Inner Child where they don’t feel safe. 

You are most often triggered because it unconsciously reminds you of something from your childhood that made you feel unsafe. Your spiritual healing work is about turning your unconscious triggers and patterns into conscious awareness. This is where you shift those patterns and align with your soul truth of peace, love and light.
