4 Tips to Change your Mindset Around Change
Are you struggling with change? It’s time to change your mindset
Staying in our comfort zones is easy because we typically know what to expect and we know how to find peace, and as much as peace is important it cannot be the only thing we strive for in life. Change happens and when we stress, worry or even fear change it will happen when we least expect it and we will struggle as we process the change. Funny thing is, once it’s been a few months after the change we usually find comfort in the new way again. So why do we put ourselves through all the stress, frustration, and worry through our fear of change?
We need to learn to change our mindsets around change.
This will help us to create a flow through change which will allow us to learn and grow much easier because we are letting go of the bitterness of change and instead allowing the change to make us better.
Today I want to share 4 tips on how you can change your mindset around change!
Recognize all the good changes of your past.
This will help you to change your mindset because you will start to recognize the good that has come from changes you have already experienced.
For instance, graduating High School is a huge change because you just spent the last 4 years of your life living the same general routine and now you need to make a decision on what is next. Either you move away and go to post-secondary, you travel, or you go and get a job. Think back on what this change brought? What lessons did you learn through this change? What positive things did this change bring you?
2. Bitter or Better?
Have you ever met someone in life who was bitter about something? Do you see how being bitter creates an environment that produces resentment and anger? Do you understand that being bitter holds you back from experiencing the greatness that life has to offer?
Now make a decision - do you want to allow changes to make you bitter or better in life?
If you have chosen better then it’s time to recognize how you can become better through change. As each new change comes forward make a list of all the goodness it could possibly bring you.
3. Allow yourself to Heal.
Sometimes the changes that happen are out of our control and we can become really hurt by said changes.
For example, if your partner breaks-up with you, or you are fired/let-go from your job. In these instances it can be extremely hard to move forward because of the hurt and pain that follows the change. In this instance it is so important that you allow yourself the time and space to heal through the change in order to connect back to a positive mindset and once again shifting forward in life.
4. Honour each phase of life.
Understanding that we flow through different phases of life will help you understand change as well. Sometimes we are at a low and sometimes we are experiencing a high, sometimes we are abundant and sometimes we struggle to make ends meet. You might not understand why you are in a current phase in the moment, but know that each phase brings it’s own life lessons for us. If we can honour ourselves in each phase and we can honour each phase we can then shift our mindset into understanding that change happens and it flows easier depending on how we shift through the transitions.
Change is the only constant in our world. Change is necessary for us to learn, grow, and heal through life.
When we create a negative mindset around change we struggle so much more than necessary. So be open to accepting change and figuring out how you can learn, heal and grow through whatever change you are currently experiencing.
