4 Tips for Empaths to Understand Your Energy for Soul Healing

 
 

Empathic people are also known as highly sensitive people and it basically means you are easily affected by all the emotions and energy that surrounds you on a daily basis. The number one tip I have for all empaths or HSP’s is to understand your energy. 

As a Spiritual Mentor, Author and Intuitive Guide I work directly with souls who want to heal emotionally and spiritually, overcome their shadow self, better understand their energy and emotions, and follow their soul path in a divine and purposeful way. The souls I work with are empaths, people pleasers, intuitives and sensitive souls. In order to live in alignment and with harmony through your spiritual journey it’s important to build self awareness so you can heal, learn and continue to grow and evolve. This is what we are here for in this human experience, to continue to grow and evolve as we elevate our consciousness. 

In this blog I am going to share the four main tips every empath or HSP needs to know in order to better understand their energy. The reason why I believe these tips are important is because the more you know about your energy the easier it becomes to trust your intuition, acknowledge your triggers, receive signs and messages from the Universe, and follow your soul path. 

Tip #1 Everything in your environment can and will affect you.

When you see someone else in emotional pain, as an empath it can trigger your own emotions. You may not feel it at the moment fully, but later that day you may find your fears, worries and doubts creeping in and take over your mind. This is because someone’s emotions in your direct environment have energetically triggered your own emotional wounds. 

The energy of the weather where you live can also affect your emotions and internal energy as an empath and HSP (highly sensitive person). This means when it’s a sunny day you can feel inspired and motivated to take action. When the weather shifts drastically in temperature you can feel drained, exhausted and lethargic. This is because you are picking up on the energy of Mother Earth and it’s triggering your emotions and energy levels. 

When you have an emotional tie to a physical location your energy can be triggered when visiting this location, talking about it or even thinking about it. This usually happens when something traumatic occurred at a location or you have unhealed emotions from an experience you had at this location. You may find yourself visiting this location and all of a sudden you feel sick to your stomach or anger takes over your entire being. The energy of this location triggers a spiritual or emotional wound you carry. 

These are only 3 of the ways your environment can and will affect your energy and emotions as an empath and HSP. It’s important to not only understand these energetic affects from your environment, but to also learn how to release and heal this energy so it’s not influencing you throughout your day.

Tip #2 Time in solitude is necessary for empaths and HSPs in order to connect to their inner spirit.

As empaths and HSPs we pick up on everyone else’s emotions and energy and if we are not careful these emotions and energy can impact how we view ourselves and how we behave. Our spiritual journey is about unbecoming who we are not by learning to release conditioned beliefs that don’t align with our Soul Truths; heal generational traumas that limit our growth; and rewrite unsupportive patterns and cycles that block us from trusting our intuition and following our soul path. 

We all have shadow selves and inner spirits, and it’s our job to uncover who we are as a spirit by building awareness of our shadow self. It can be extremely difficult to uncover our inner spirit, or who we are as a soul, if we are constantly surrounded by other people. This is because we tend to perceive ourselves through someone else’s eyes, we people please our way to receiving love, and we try to become who the people in our environment want us to be or see us as. 

Taking time in solitude is extremely impactful in your journey of becoming who you came here to be. It’s the process of understanding your inner spirit so you can guide yourself along your soul path. As an empath and HSP you are always picking up on everyone else’s energy and emotions, and so if you don’t take time in solitude you can easily see yourself with layers of energy and emotions that aren’t actually yours. 

In order to know who you are as a soul you need to prioritize time in solitude.

Tip #3 You have a gift to be able to more easily feel your intuition than others. 

Being an empath and an HSP means that you feel emotions in a deep way. A lot of us grow up believing our sensitivities are a weakness and we can try to wear a tough exterior to be strong like society wants us to be. In reality, your sensitivities are a gift because it means you are more easily able to feel your intuition and how it guides you through life. 

Now, because you are an empath and an HSP and you pick up on so many energies that surround you, it’s important to take time in solitude (tip #2) in order to understand your intuition and decipher how it’s guiding you. If you aren’t careful you can think your intuition is guiding you in a certain direction, when really someone else’s energy is influencing you and you are reading your intuition in the wrong way. 

It takes time, practice and commitment to strengthen your intuition and to trust how your gut feeling is directing you. In saying that, because of your sensitivities it’s a gift you can master more easily than others. 

Tip #4 What you resist will persist. Take time to honour your emotions & energy. 

It’s important for you to learn to STOP pressuring yourself to take action when you don’t feel right. It’s also important to stop ignoring and avoiding your emotions by brushing them under the rug. When you resist the energy or emotions you feel they end up staying stagnant inside of your body and this is what creates unhealed emotional wounds. This energy can build and build and build and eventually lead you to a breakdown. 

Energy is always flowing and its natural state is one of flow. When you resist the energy or emotions you feel through avoidance, ignorance, and denial you stop the flow of energy. This will create more problems for you in the long run. Learn more about flow here.

By allowing yourself to feel your emotions fully, you let them flow through you and out of you, so you can then move to the next emotion that flows in. If you don’t want to wait for the next emotion to flow in, you can go take action on something that you know will create an uplifting emotion, but you first have to feel the original emotion to let it flow out. 

Honouring your energy levels and your emotions is about carrying grace for yourself and how you currently feel. The more grace you carry, the more patience you have and you end up filling yourself with loving compassion which will support you as you continue to live life. 

It’s important as an empath and HSP to learn positive coping mechanisms in order to flow through your emotions and energy levels, this way you don’t become attached to a low vibration of energy. 


These are my top 4 tips for all empaths and highly sensitive people because these are the four lessons that have helped me the most on my own spiritual journey.
