Does Everyone Have an Intuition?
To be intuitive means that you feel when something is right or wrong for your well-being without having physical proof. You instinctively feel in the moment which choice is most aligned with your well-being.
As a Spiritual Mentor & Author, Psychic and Intuitive Guide I’ve worked with a lot of different people to support them in strengthening their intuitive knowing. One of the most common misconceptions I hear from people who are new to spirituality is “I don’t have an intuition.” I am here to break the stigma, because I know everyone has an intuition.
A lot of people believe they don’t have an intuition because they’ve been shutting down any intuitive feelings they’ve had for their entire life. It’s not that you don’t have an intuition, it’s actually that you don’t know how to listen to your intuition and you’ve been taught not to trust it.
We live in a society that prioritizes facts, knowledge, and following the status quo.
Especially in the western world, we deem anyone going against the grain or “doing things their own way” as wrong, an unsuccessful way to live, and weird. Our culture says “don’t be weird, be normal.” What really is normal?
We are judged if we do things differently.
We are shamed if we have an outside opinion.
We are rejected if we share our individuality and uniqueness.
Maybe not in every instance, but there is a long line of proof in our history that aligns with those three statements.
We are beginning to create a new world that praises our uniqueness.
We are starting to understand that we are not meant to be carbon copies of each other.
Were you raised in a family that said you had to follow the steps in order to be successful?
Get an education in a industry that will give you a good paying job
Get a job at a company that will allow you to climb the ladder of success
Find a spouse that aligns with your family values
Buy a house in a well-developed town/city so you can live comfortably
Have a family and raise them to be good citizens
Do your job day in and day out without complaints
If you follow these steps then you will be fulfilled.
Who decided this was the path that would fulfill us?
Who chose these steps as the number one priority?
It’s in this mindset where we fell away from listening to our intuition.
We prioritized a specific way of living life, that we forgot about free will. We forgot that no one else can determine what makes us, the individual, happy. We have allowed people in power to control our decisions for so long that we actually believe living in this structured way will bring fulfillment.
Why?
Because we’ve been told that this way of living will bring control, certainty, and security.
We all want to feel in control.
We all want to be certain that life will bring happiness.
We all want to feel secure in the life we are living.
When I first sit down with new clients I always ask them what positive emotions they desire to experience in life. They never say control, certainty and security. They always say happiness, freedom, love, peace, bliss, tranquility and joy.
Why?
Because they’ve already had some level of feeling in control, feeling certain and feeling secure, yet it wasn’t fulfilling. Usually life leads you to recognize you don’t actually have control, and the things you are certain about can actually change in an instant. What you once felt secure about is now hanging by a thread and you don’t know how to move forward.
Feeling in control, certain and secure is actually extremely unfulfilling because eventually you get to a place in life where you realize these don’t make you happy and they don’t bring you peace.
Back to the question… Does everyone have an intuition?
Yes.
Your intuition is a way that your soul guides you in each moment in order to make the most aligned decisions for you, the individual. Your intuition says “YES! This feels good and will support my well-being.” or it says “NO! This feels off and won’t be good for me.” It’s an immediate, in the moment feeling you have and there is no deep explanation as to why you feel what you feel.
Our society doesn’t like it when we can’t logically or rationally explain how we got to our decision. We don’t trust people, we trust facts. So, when someone says “that doesn’t feel right” we are quick to ask “how do you know it’s not right?”. We don’t like trusting something we can’t prove.
What if we didn’t need to prove ourselves? What if we didn’t need to prove our decisions? What if we could simply trust that this was how we were being guided?

Back to the blog - Does Everyone Have an Intuition?
When people tell me “I don’t have an intuition” I am quick to tell them, “actually, you’ve been programmed to not trust your intuition.”
Your intuition is not loud. It’s actually very quiet. It’s a calm, centered knowing that your inner spirit carries. Every single time you ignore or avoid the advice of your intuition you are building a pattern that blocks this calm, quiet feeling.
Your mind is loud. It’s the loudest part of your being. It’s a demanding, rude, confusing bully that tries to control your experience through life. Every single time you allow the thoughts in your mind to guide you from a space of doubt, worry and fear you are strengthening this pattern, and it will always lead you to feeling unfulfilled.
Every single person has an intuition, we simply have grown up in a culture that doesn’t prioritize individuality and uniqueness. Your intuition is leading you into the life you were meant to live, which looks and feels different from the status-quo and the way society said we should live. You have been raised to keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself and to do as you are told. Our culture says that someone else knows what’s best for you and your life.
The problem with this is that we’ve learnt to prioritize other people’s decisions and ideas over our own.
When stuck in a problem or challenge we ask everyone else to help us make the best decision because we don’t trust ourselves to make the most aligned decision for ourselves. We’ve been raised to listen to the leaders because they know what we should or should not be doing.
Someone else can’t bring fulfillment into your life.
Someone else can’t help you feel satisfied.
We aren’t meant to all live the exact same life.
How boring would that be?
Happiness and joy don’t come from living a life the way your parents told you to.
Happiness and joy come from finding what you are passionate about, and trusting yourself to bring these passions to fruition.
Peace and tranquility don’t come from following the path that everyone else has taken.
Peace and tranquility come from living true to yourself and knowing that you are following the path you were meant to live.
Learning to listen to and trust your intuition is not a flip of the switch.
We have to de-program ourselves and this old way of living. We’ve trusted other people’s opinions and thoughts for too long, believing that outside approval will bring the joy and love we desire.
I have learnt that true joy and love come from within and when you can create those feelings for yourself life becomes fulfilling in a way you never thought possible. Your intuition is trying to guide you to be able to create the joy and love you desire.
Let’s get one thing straight…
What brings me joy may not bring you joy. If I were to sit here and tell you to follow these 4 steps in order to live a joyful life, you’d be following the steps to live MY joyful life. You wouldn’t actually achieve the joy because it’s not the life you were meant to live.
This is exactly what we were raised to believe. Follow this path because so-and-so says it will lead to happiness.
Your intuition helps guide you in finding WHAT brings YOU joy.
Then it leads you to create a life that is filled with joy.
Intuition is the way to living a fulfilling life.
Now you need to ask yourself…
Am I willing to break free from these old patterns so I can lead myself to a joyful life via my intuition?
Everyone has an intuition.
We’ve simply been taught to not trust it.
Now we are beginning to learn that trusting our intuition is the only way to a fulfilling life!
I hope this has brought a new perspective into your life or confirms what you’ve already known to be true.
Strengthening your intuition is about being devoted to living in alignment with your soul path. In order to take the first step of listening to your intuition you have to know what’s blocking you from hearing it. This is one of the lessons I cover in the Spirit of Air program. In this 12 month group program you will learn to TRUST YOUR SPIRIT so you can follow your soul path and live a fulfilling life. Check out all the details here!
Until next time, sending love and light on your spiritual journey,
